Utah Jazz vs. Miami Heat

Wednesday 14 October 2009 @ 10:41 pm

Utah Jazz are a professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are currently members of the Northwest Division of Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Franchise started in 1974 as the New Orleans jazz, which is based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, but the team moved to Utah in 1979, after only five seasons. Jazz was one of the most unsuccessful teams in the league in the early years of their lives, and it would be 10 years before they made the playoffs appearance (in 1984). They will not miss the playoffs again until 2004. At the end of 1980, John Stockton and Karl Malone emerged as a franchise player for the team, and became one of the most famous point guard / power forward duos in NBA history. Under the guidance of coach Jerry Sloan, who took over for Frank Layden in 1988, they became one of the Powerhouse of the 1990′s, culminating in two performances in the NBA Finals of 1997 and 1998, where they lost both times to Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls. Both Stockton and Malone came in 2003 and missing since the playoffs in 3 seasons, they returned to prominence under the leadership of a franchise court duo of point guard Deron Williams and power forward Carlos Boozer, considered by many to have had more than the mantle left by Stockton and Malone. In 1974 Utah Jazz tickets franchise began in New Orleans, Louisiana. The first major step was the team to trade for a star player Pete Maravich of the Atlanta Hawks 2 for the first round of project selection, 3 second round of sampling, and 1 third-round pick in the next 3 years. Although he was considered one of the most exciting players in the league and won the scoring championship in 1977 with 31.1 points per game, best Utah jazz’s event record while in New Orleans was 39-43 in the season 1977 — 78. Maravich struggled with injuries of the knee on the season ahead.
