Hot Club of  Cowtown formed in 1997 as a hot jazz / Western trio Swing. The group consisted of Elana Fremerman (now known as Alan James) (vocals, violin), Whit Smith (vocals, guitar) and Bill Horton (vocals, bass, piano), which was later replaced by Jake Erwin.First Hot Club Album, 1998 Stampede’s Swingin ‘is a collection of standards, fiddle tunes and classic western swing songs, including two written by Bob Wills, a great influence on the group. Their 1999 follow-up album, Tall Tales, has demonstrated the ability songs Smith and James a lot of original songs, including “Darling You And I Are Through”, James, and “Emily” and “When I Lost You” Smith, as well as more Western standards Swing Bob Wills, Pee Wee King and others. Further albums will continue the same formula of a classic western swing and hot jazz, along with the originals in the same style. By changing his name to James (James being derived from her patronymic), Alan began to speak in late 2005, Beau Sample (formerly of Cave Catt Sammy) and Luke Hill, the first under the name Elana James and her hot hot trio, and then Elano as James and Continental Two. It was announced that Whit Smith will sit in with James and the Continental Two, when they opened for Bob Dylan for a series of concerts in the summer of 2006 once again performing at the historic stadium.
