Thao And The Get Down Stay Down is San Francisco, California-based (formerly Falls Church, Virginia), alternative folk-rock music group. It consists of Tao Nguyen (vocals, guitar), Adam Thompson (bass), and Willis Thompson (drums). Frank Stewart (guitar, production) is a former member of band.Thao was strumming the guitar with the venerable age of 12 when she got the creative juices flowing through her high school reading list. Thao says: “an early song I remember was written in the eighth grade. I do not remember the name, but it was Lord of the Flies. I wrote it instead of the traditional book report. It was very dark and intense, in Mali. A lot of heavy strumming. I performed it live in class. “Thao Nguyen began performing and recording as an indie-folk duo with a school friend, Brenna Clerkin. Growing up in Falls Church, Virginia with his single mother, she often practiced her songs while working in the laundry mother. She often refers to Lilith Fair as an inspiration for his desire to become a young singer and songwriter.
