Teena Marie (born Mary Christine Brockert; March 5, 1956) is an American Grammy nominated singer and composer-producer. Marie, nicknamed “Lady T, is the latest protege funk legend Rick James, and is distinguished as one of the few successful artists white R & B. She sings R & B with a strong, robust vocals and plays rhythm guitar, keyboards and congas. She has also written, produced, sang and arranged almost all of her songs after its release in 1980 Irons in the fire. She highlighted that as her favorite album. She has a daughter named Alia Rose, who in 2009, singing under the name Le Rose Beau.Marie signed with Motown Records in 1976, came the introduction of staff producer Hal Davis (best known for his work with the Jackson 5) and then to listen to with her a group to label boss Berry Gordy. Teena Marie tickets recorded unreleased material from various manufacturers, including Punch and wise, but was then seen Rick James, who effectively became her mentor. (Some of the previously unreleased material have since been placed on the collection.) Her debut album release, wild and Peace, was originally conceived as a project that will be produced for Diana Ross, James, but James chose to work with Marie. The album was at some point should be credited to “Tina Tryson”, but ultimately was removed from the now common name being Marie. He scored Marie her first ten R & B hit, “I’m Just Sucker For Your Love” (# 8 Black Singles Chart) , which was a duet with James. Neither the sleeve of the album, no other packaging shows a photo of Mary, apparently on the theory that a black audience might not want to buy the album white artist. In fact, many radio programmers mistakenly believe Teena Marie event African American in the first months of his myth career.This were dispelled when, in 1980, her second album, Lady T, wore her photograph on the cover.
