Moscow Ballet is the Russian ballet in Moscow, who visited the United States during the holiday season since 1993. Stanislav Vlasov, a former chief artist of the Bolshoi Theater, was first artistic director of the company in 1993. Vlasov’s debut in the United States at Carnegie Hall in 1957.From 1994-1996 years Moscow Ballet engaged in partnership with the Moscow Musical Theater for Children, founded by Natalia Sats. Last theater known as the birthplace of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, and for his commitment to cultural education of children. The Moscow Ballet has toured with the orchestra in the theater Sats, conducted by Andrei Yakovlev. In 1996, production of the full length of the Great Russian Moscow Ballet “Nutcracker” was held at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC It was the culmination of the Ballet Moscow’s relations with Sats Theater and was documented by South Carolina Educational Television. The show was organized by the National Association for the Education of young children. From 1997 to present, Anatoly Emelionov, former soloist of Sats, was artistic director of the Moscow theater. A graduate of the Perm State Ballet School, Emelionov’s given a modern staging of the Moscow Ballet “Nutcracker” in a unique feel.The modern set was developed by Valentin Fedorov, who studied at the Moscow Art Academic Theater under the legendary Valery Leventhal Bolshoi Ballet. Since 1988, he was artistic director of the Chuvash State Opera and Ballet Theater and has designed over 40 productions for Opera and Ballet Theater. In 1991, his “Blackberry along the fence” won the best performances of Russia festival. He was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Chuvashia.
