Lovin’ Spoonful ‘is an American pop-rock band from the 1960′s, named Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. When asked about the group leader John Sebastian said it sounded like a combination of “Mississippi John Hurt and Chuck Berry. The group is rooted in the folk music scene based in the Greenwich Village section of lower Manhattan in the early 1960′s. Sebastian, who grew up in contact with the music and musicians, was the son of such a register and a very technically accomplished classical harmonica player. Lovin’ Spoonful tickets had reached maturity by the end of the revival of American folk music, which took place in 1950′s and early 60′s. Sebastian joined Spoonful guitarist Hall Yanovsky of bohemian folk group called “Mugwumps, playing the local cafes and small clubs (the other two members shall constitute half of The Mamas & The Papas . drummer-vocalist Joe Butler and bassist Steve Boone rounded out the group. First, the band recorded four tracks on Elektra Records in early 1965, but chose to sign with Kama Sutra Records that same year. Elektra tracks were released in 1966 Compliation Various Artists LP With Shakin ‘after the group’s success on the Kama Sutra. Lovin Spoonful event was introduced in the rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
