Liverpool FC (pronounced / lɪvər ˌ pul /) is a professional football club based in Liverpool, England. The club plays in the Premier League and won the trophy more than any other English club. Liverpool won the joint record of eighteen league titles, seven FA Cups, seven League Cups and the European Cup five times, a record for the English club. The club was founded in 1892, when a dispute between Everton and the master of his Anfield stadium saw Everton move to Goodison Park and the old stadium became vacant. They joined the Football League shortly afterwards and within a few years have been a powerful force in English football, winning five league championships between 1900 and 1947. However, Liverpool FC tickets slipped to the Football League Second Division in 1950, but not to win promotion back to 1962, three years after the appointment of Bill Shankly as manager. They were the champions of the first division for the sixth time in 1964 – just two years after the action.The club has traditionally played in the red and white, but it was changed to all red in 1960. Under the leadership of Shankly’s, Liverpool FC event won the League three league titles, two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup, first European trophy in the club. He retired in 1974 at the end of the season, which led them to FA Cup triumph, which was replaced by coach Bob Paisley, who set a new record of winning 13 major tropies between then and his retirement in 1983 – including the three European cups .
