Q-Tip & The Cool Kids

The Cool Kids is an alternative rap group from the midwestern United States. The duo consists of Antoine “Mikey Rocks” Reed (originally from Matteson, Illinois) and Evan “Chuck Inglish” Ingersoll (originally from Gori Clemens, Michigan) . Self-described as “new black version of the Beastie Boys,” Cool Children’s Music “was released mainly through its home page MySpace, but has already signed the independent Chocolate Industries via their own label CAKE Recordings. , Reed and Ingersoll collaborated with several other music artists and performed in many media, such as Asher Roth, Kenna, The Bloody Beetroots, and Maroon 5.

Members of The Cool Kids tickets met in 2005 when Reed found a beat on MySpace, that Ingersoll prepared . Met to discuss the terms of sale to beat, and ultimately proved to be recording for two hours.  They were inspired by the golden age of hip-hop and artists like Eric B. & Rakim . Ingersoll began promoting the new material the duo, and was eventually booked Josh Young Flosstradamus for performance DJ.  In this performance (in a place called Town Hall PUB), the duo met with DJ Diplo, who offered to release their mixtape unreleased tracks titled Totally Flossed Out on his label Mad Decent, though it was eventually released on the cake Recordings.  They also received a proposal from the DJ A-Trak to sign his Gold Label Fool’s,  which they did, but only for one. In his time with the Fool’s Gold, The Cool Kids felt that they had not received sufficient attention: “If your boss is on tour with Kanye West, it is easy to have missed the timing,” Chuck said in an interview.

All their material was only released on the MySpace page of , their contract came after performances at the CMJ Music Festival and Pitchfork Music Festival, July 15, 2007.  Eventually, The Cool Kids events signed to Chocolate Industries, another independent label.  The Panel found on the MySpace page debut album Cool Kids’, when fish ride bicycles, will be released in 2008, although since 2009 it has not been released. Ingersoll was the producer for tracks released so far , but how to work in rap and production. Duo uses music software Reason from Propellerhead Software to produce their music.
