Noah and The Whale

Noah and the Whale British folk indie band from Twickenham, London, England began in 2006.The group consists of Charlie Fink (vocals, guitar), Doug Fink (drums), Tom Hobden (fiddle) and Urby Keith (bass), and through few singles, released their debut album, peace, peace Lays Me Down in August 2008. Laura Marling and Emmy the Great sang for short periods with the band and brass accompaniment on CD-ROM provides John Carvell (trombone) and Sam Kinrade (trumpet). Lillie Flynn (sister of Johnny, and sometimes a member of the Sussex Wit) also fill the role of the singer during the tour. Marling still occasionally performs with the group as its schedule of his solo tour allows. She performs backing vocals on most of their debut album.They were compared to Neutral Milk Hotel, Bonnie Prince Billy and Belle & Sebastian.Noah and the Whale tickets and the group lead as a punk-rock and folk as influences .Their name is the title of marriage is one of the favorite films of, Squid and the Whale, and the director said the film name (Noah Baumbach) . They also Avid fans of director Wes Anderson, who helps produce Squid and the Whale, along Baumbach; e-mail group, and many of their blog posts MySpace, signed “Sic Transit Gloria”, a phrase frequently used in Anderson’s film Rushmore.The band performed in the Internet TV show by Jeremy Warmsley’s Welcome to our TV show, and made several appearances at festivals including Leeds, Latitude, SXSW, V Festival and Glastonbury.They also plan to play a mini tour in the U.S., most likely, around their performance Lollapalooza, Noah and the Whale event although the dates have not yet been officially announced. They are currently scheduled to play Coachella in 2009 on the date of Friday.
