Murder By Death

Murder by Death is an American four-part rock band from Bloomington, Indiana. Their name comes from the 1976 Robert Moore film with the same name.

Murder By Death tickets plays a range of music, including instrumental, punk-rock and alt-country. While in previous versions, they used keyboard and electric cello to create a South American gothic sound, later focused more on guitar punk rock and western influences.Murder of Death was formed in 2000 in Bloomington, Indiana, guitarist Adam Turla, cellist Sarah Balliet, percussionist Alexander Schrodt, keyboardist Vincent Edwards, and bassist Matt Armstrong. One of the first concerts of the group was at the Channing-Murray Foundation Cafe Red Herring in Urbana, Illinois, with DMS former American football drummer Steve Lam ’solo project. In attendance was the head of the command AV Label Lam, with whom he worked, who came Turla and his bandmates after the concert and offered his help in securing additional shows.

Around the same time, the group met Thursday vocalist Geoff Rickly, when the two bands played on one stage at a concert in their hometown of Bloomington. Rickly introduced Murder By Death events, then known as Little Joe Gould, his friend Alex Saavedra (owner of Eyeball Records), which also expressed interest in the group.
