Leahy

Leahy is the name of a Canadian group of folk music. With eight members, all from the Leahy family of eleven brothers and sisters who are members of Lakefield, Ontario, and were actively touring Canada and internationally since the early 1980’s, when they were known as the Leahy family.

In 1985, Leahy tickets were the subject of a short film called Leahy: Music Most of All, which won an Oscar in the category of Best Foreign Student Film “.The composition of the group varies depending on the availability of its members, who come and go, due to marriage, parenting, and other commitments. In the 1980’s and early 1990 the band recorded a number of private released discs and cassettes (most of whom used the same name, Leahy family) that were sold at their concerts and they were frequent guests at the Big Valley Jamboree concerts in Saskatchewan and Alberta.In 1997 the band resumed recording with their “build up” album, Leahy, who also introduced a new branding group.

Leahy events was instrumental album, but the band also includes vocal performances in their live performances and subsequent albums included both vocal and instrumental.
