Curtis Salgado

Curtis Salgado was the inspiration for the creation of characters, John Belushi Blues Brothers in the late 1970’s. They met and became friends while Belushi was in Eugene, Oregon, filming of the animals. Blues Brother’s debut album, Briefcase Full Of Blues is dedicated to Salgado and nature of Cab Calloway in the movie Blues Brothers is the name of Curtis. During the six years he performed with the group of Robert Cray, and sang lead on the debut album Cray’s. Later in 1995 he spent a short stint as vocalist with the group of Latin rock, Santana.

Curtis Salgado tickets was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2005 and was successful liver transplant in 2006. He continues to write and perform his music. June 13, 2006 charity concert was held in his honor in Portland to raise funds for his treatment. Among those who performed were little Charlie and the Nightcats, alternative rock band Everclear, musician, Taj Mahal, Robert Cray Band, and rocker Steve Miller. Also present were the widow of John Belushi, who talked about the development of Salgado Of The Blues Brothers. On April 29, 2007 Another benefit was held in honor of Curtis Salgado events “when Steve Miller and Little Charlie and the boys, and adding blues guitarist Jimmie Vaughan, and harp player Charlie Musselwhite and Kim Wilson.
