Blues Blast

Phoenix Blues Society hosted the first official Blues explosion in February 1992 in the Mesa Amphitheater. Blues Blast ‘92 Following tradition established by Nancy Wolter Arts Center Mesa, who for several years have been of less Blues Festival every February.Blues Blast tickets ‘92 also the first year of sponsorship by both Bud Light (Hensley & Company) and the Arizona Commission on the Arts. Headliner this year was a singer Nappy Brown, who thrilled the crowd, leaving the stage to pass through the singing of seats without the aid of a microphone. Also on this show were harmonica player Snooky Pryor, guitarist Bob Margolin, Chico’s Chism Chicago Blues Band, The Hoodoo Kings, Dave Andrews & method. Blues Blast ‘93-still fondly recalled the old Phoenix Blues Society board members as one of those special cases when all came together just right. National acts this year were all Black Top Records artists, Blues Blast event as well as the collection of old friends made a special day of music. The phenomenon was Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, Anson Funderburgh & The Rockets Featuring Sam Myers, Carol Fran & Clarence Hollimon and local lads missile 88S, Hans Olson, Big Pete Pearson & Blues Sevilles, Carvin Jones Band, and Dynamo Blue. Hot guitarists dominate day Blues Blast tickets ‘94, we brought to the Valley of the Sun Elvin Bishop, Joe Louis Walker, and Guitar Shorty. Frankly, Shorty stole the show with his stinging blues guitar licks and acrobatics on stage. Strips Phoenix area including cold shot, and hurricane Horn, who supported the Guitar Shorty and hosted a tribute to late music legend Bob Tate, Phoenix, and Chuck Hall Band.
