Amel Larrieux

Amelie Larrieux (born March 8, 1973) is an American soul and R & B singer and keyboardist. Amel Larrieux rose to fame in the mid-1990 was one of the founders of the duo Groove Theory along with Bryce Wilson. After leaving the group in 1999, she released her debut solo album, Endless possibilities in the next year on Epic Records. In late 2003, Larrieux founded his own independent label, Blisslife Records, where she released three albums so far. CITES Larrieux, Ella Fitzgerald, Prince, Ricky Lee Jones, Stevie Wonder, Shawn Colvin, Chaka Khan, John Lennon, Patrice Rushen, Jimi Hendrix, and Joni Mitchell as her musical influences.Larrieux born and grew up an only child in Manhattan Greenwich Village , New York, New York. Her African American mother, Brenda Dixon Gottschild, is a dance critic, author and college instructor. Her father is Caucasian American of French, English and Scottish descent. Amel Larrieux tickets was raised in a very artistic environment and was surrounded by talented artists and inspiring. Many of her influences come from R & B, soul, jazz, folk, hip-hop, and gospel with flashes of Middle East, West Africa and Indian ethnic styles. It has often been documented to describe her music as “music Amelie’S”.Amel Larrieux event currently resides in New York with her husband, Laru, and their two daughters, Sanji Rei and Sky. Her name means Amelie “Hope” in Arabic.
