STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) is an instrumental group known for their live performances. Genre-blending of sound based heavily on instrumental rock and electronic music crossed with elements of funk, jazz, and bass drum, psychedelia, and hip-hop. Self-described as “post-rock music dance. With a standard mixture of live instrumentation of rock with electronics, preferring the group rhythm over individual solos. STS9 has released five studio albums, one remix album and a concert DVD (Live, as a change in time) on their own label 1320 Records. As an independent artist, they succeeded with the help of their live performance to several concert tours and appeared at music festivals. They have achieved considerable popularity in several niche areas of the country through frequent presentations, primarily in the greater San Francisco, including St. Croix; greater Denver area, including Boulder; as well as Asheville, North Carolina, and greater Atlanta area, including Athens, GA . STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) tickets was formed in Atlanta, Georgia in the late 90′s, but moved to Northern California in late 2000. Within a short period of time, the group was a 4 piece until Jefree Lerner joined in early 1999.Name of the group has changed over time. The original name of the band from their first two albums was sector 9, but due to copyright conflicts with existing Longboard company with the same name was changed to “Sound Tribe Sector 9.” Sector 9 is a reference to the current era of the Mayan calendar. Since the release of the artifact at the beginning of 2005 the band contributed a full day under their name initials of STS9. Often considered the speech as either “Sound Tribe” or “STS9″. Over the last 2 or 3 years songs STS9′s getting farther and farther away from the drum and bass aesthetic embrace elements of genres as diverse as electricity, Perry Coriolis hip-hop, rock, and IDM. One example of their new direction is “Somesing” (from 2005′s Artifact [1]), 7 minute song on the textural changes of the classical piece. More and more of his compositions now include digital elements and vocal samples, often from the singer’s audio Angel.Tem however, vocals are usually limited to a few lines in one section of the song. The fact that much of the music is instrumental STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) event was referring to Jeffree Lerner as it allows every student to his own “Adventure” or interpretation of the song.
